The Festival boosts tourism during the off-season, filling hotel rooms, restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques during what would otherwise be Santa Barbara’s quietest months. Local businesses thrive thanks to the influx of visitors, industry professionals, and artists, and gala events bring vitality and visibility to our city.
Mayor Randy Rowse recently said:
“The renovation of the theater by SBIFF will create immediate cultural and economic benefits for downtown. The added foot traffic will bring vitality and vibrancy to the center of State Street, the heart of our city’s business district. We’re excited to bring this infusion of culture and art to the center of our downtown.”
The McHurley Film Center represents the next evolution of this impact. By creating a permanent home on State Street, SBIFF will not only secure its own future but also magnify its role as an engine for Santa Barbara’s cultural and economic health.
